VR firm AmazeVR and Megan Thee Stallion have teamed up on a virtual reality concert tour, Enter Thee Hottieverse.
The Enter Thee Hottieverse event will take place in 10 cities across the United States between April and July 2022.
Fans will be granted access to ‘Enter Thee Hottieverse’ at participating movie theaters, using the provided VR headsets – or the ‘Hottie Mounted Displays’, as they’re called in the press release announcing details about the partnership.
The VR concert performance will feature a multi-song set that moves through a series of environments, as well as “hot custom wardrobes designed just for the show”, according to AmazeVR.
AmazeVR was founded in 2015, and recently closed a $15 million round of funding to support what it called at the time its “vision for VR concerts”.
The $15m raised on January 12 brought the Los Angeles and Seoul-based company’s total raised to date to $30.8m.
The start-up announced in January that its VR concert tour with Megan Thee Stallion “springs from years of R&D” that resulted in proprietary 9K cameras and in software that can automate “complex” Unreal Engine-based visual effects, and run more than 100 headsets at a time.
Unreal Engine is the Epic Games-owned ‘engine’ on which various blockbuster video games, including Epic-owned Fortnite, are built on.
Unreal is also used for immersive music experiences by Sony Immersive Music Studios, which has produced virtual performances by the likes of Madison Beer and Tate McRae using the tech.
AmazeVR has also previously said that it will raise a Series B round in early 2022, bringing what it says is, “its mobile theater guised as an artist’s tour bus to potential investors in Silicon Valley and beyond”.
“Virtual reality has always been an interest of mine and I’m glad that we’ll be able to make history with this experience.”

Megan Thee Stallion, said: “Virtual reality has always been an interest of mine and I’m glad that we’ll be able to make history with this experience.
“My hotties will get to watch me perform in a completely different and unique way and I appreciate the AmazeVR team for helping me to bring this VR vision to life.
“I can’t wait to see the Hotties show up to the tour.”
“If anyone could push the notion of how captivating a VR concert can be, it’s Megan.”
-Ernest Lee, AmazeVR
Ernest Lee, AmazeVR co-CEO, added: “We are thrilled to work with Megan to launch AmazeVR’s very first VR Concert Tour.
“She’s an artist who has incredible stage presence and can create iconic moments that will make the most of the VR technology we’re developing.
“If anyone could push the notion of how captivating a VR concert can be, it’s Megan.
“Not everyone owns a headset, and not everyone can make it to their favorite artist’s live show.
“A VR Concert by AmazeVR opens up the possibilities for fans to encounter artists in a completely new way, while knocking down all the barriers to entry that have made it hard to access the amazing experiences VR can provide.”
